The diversion load resistor is used in conjunction with a charge controller to regulate DC Power systems. These resistors can be wired in parallel to increase the wattage that may be dumped in a particular voltage bank. While not needed as can be seen in photo number 3 these resistors have vent holes in both ends which with the use of fan forced air can be configured into a heater. These resistors become very hot and in no circumstances should be mounted to wood.
